PIZZA WITH PURPOSE
At CIVERINOS, we are fortunate enough to be able to give back to our community and supporting those who need it. Through various initiatives, we contribute to charities and good causes that align with our core values.
We know you can’t pour from an empty cup so we are always looking inward and do what we can to support our dedicated team members by providing such services as ‘Health Assured’, an incredible service which provides all our team with 24/7 mental health and financial advice (to name a few) or with our enhanced cover-shift pay incentive.
By helping our community and empowering our team, we believe we can create a positive ripple effect for a brighter future through the power of pizza. At CIVS we take pride in our community & strive to support as many charities, fundraisers & good causes as we are able. We hope that as we grow so will our ability to support even more causes.
Our Community
We believe it’s important to give back to our community and contribute to a better world.
We serve after school slices for £1 at our Portobello slice bar.
This offer was started so that our massive slices of pizza that much more accessible.
Available between 3-4pm Mon - Thurs & 12-1pm on Fridays.
Life’s a beach
Since opening on the beach at Portobello we have been aware of the potential impact our business could have to the environment. Increased footfall, disposable products could all contribute to waste.
On opening in 2021 we worked with Zero waste Scotland to produce a cone for our fries that doubles as a dip pot to reduce single use plastic.
We also have our litter picking initiative which encourages our community to get involved with keeping the beach tidy. Bring us a bag of beach waste, we’ll ensure it is properly disposed of and you get a free slice pizza in return for being our eco warriors. Everyone is a winner!
Volleyball Smackdowns
In 2022 we launched our first ever “Volleyball smackdowns”, cause who doesn’t agree that Scotland is the best place to host a beach volleyball competition?!
We initially wanted to host this healthy competition as a means to get our teams, and the hospitality families from around Edinburgh together. To do something active and get to know each other. As this idea grew we teamed up with Local charities and good causes, and through the generosity of the teams and businesses who got involved over the last 2 years we have raised thousands of pounds.
In 2023 have hosted 2 such competitions with our chosen charities being Joshua Noland foundation and LGBT youth.
LGBT Youth Scotland’s national charity for LGBTI young people, working with 13–25 year olds across the country. They also deliver the LGBT Charter programme to schools, organisations and businesses.
Their goal is to make Scotland the best place to grow up for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex young people. They play a leading role in the provision of quality youth work to LGBTI young people that promotes their health and wellbeing, and are a valued and influential partner in LGBTI equality and human rights.
Joshua Nolan Foundation’s goal is to reduce suicide rates in Edinburgh and the Lothians.
They aim to do this through improving the provision of quality mental health counselling for those who are at high risk of suicide, and by building an inclusive community to reduce stigma and increase understanding around mental health.
